administration -- the obama administration has release the names of 55 guantanamo prisoners who have been cleared for release. the names are part of a group of 86 prisoners who received approval to be transferred from guantanamo three years ago, but have remained in captivity. guantanamo defense attorneys say the disclosure will make it easier to advocate for those identified, but have urged the u.s. to reveal the remaining names and begin transfers without further delay. mitt romney has released a limited set a personal tax records following months of public criticism. romney's 2011 tax return shows he paid an effective tax rate of 14% last year on gross income of $13.7 million. but the return also shows romney gave $1.75 million in charitable deductions so as to not to contradict his claims he's never paid below 13%. keeping the deductions would have meant a tax rate of 10%. but for going them also contradicts his previous statement that he would not be qualified to be president had he ever paid more taxes than he owed. all the romney continued his refusal to release full tax returns from previ

for the united nations general assembly. the conflict in syria is an essential focus. president obama spoke about the issue earlier today. >> in syria, the future must not belong to a dictator who massacres his people. if there's a cause that cries out for protest in the world today, peaceful protest. in a regime that tortures children and shoots rockets at apartment buildings. we must remain engaged to assure that what began with citizens demanding the rights does not end in the cycle of sectarian violence. together we must stand with those syrians who believe in a different vision, a syria that is united and inclusive where children don't need to fear their own government. and they have a say, sunni's and christians. that's what america stands for, that's what we will stand for sanctions and consequences to those who persecute and support for those who work for the common good. >> rose: they have the resolution to increase the government three times. meanwhile the killing in syria continues. they're up to 30,000 estimated dead. the impasse is just one of the many strains on relations between

of schizophrenic policy of this administration. obama's people point all the time look at the unprecedented defense cooperation and missile defense and other things, and it is unprecedented. well, it's precedented because the bush administration beforehand had begun that ratcheting up of cooperation between with the israel defense forces after 9/11. that cooperation is a two-way street. the israelis have designed equipment that has saved the lives of americans in afghanistan. and, indeed, self sealing bandages, it's one of the reasons it saves lives of people who have been hit, improved wound healing. so it's a two-way thing. they're constantly talking, swapping tactics, things about drones. so a lot of good things there. but what the right hand giveth with defense, the left-handed diplomatic takes away with pressure to free settlement, something the palestinians have never asked for, israel was told it should negotiate from, what were called by the administration 1967 borders, which were the 1939 cease-fire lines, which are not borders. and the palestinians immediately adopted that. so then there
